The Pirates non-tendered outfielders Brian De La Cruz and Connor Joe along with right-handed reliever Hunter Stratton in several roster moves made yesterday.
Both De La Cruz and Joe had disappointing seasons, even though Joe had a great start. As for Stratton, his season ended August 2nd when he ruptured his left patella tendon. Pirates officials say they want to try to bring Stratton back.
Meanwhile, the Bucs picked up 30-year-old righty reliever Peter Strzelecki from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash considerations. Strzelecki spent 10 games with the Guardians last year, posting a 2.31 ERA in 1 2⁄3 innings with nine strikeouts and three walks. He spent the majority of the season with Cleveland’s Triple-A affiliate in Columbus, going 3-1 with a 5.01 ERA in 44 appearances.
