Health professionals are at the KCAC today to hear from various people concerning many different rural health concerns, with this year’s theme being mental health concerns. IUP’s Founding Dean for the College of Osteopathic Medicine Dr. Miko Rose talked about why this conference is important.
The keynote address was given this morning by Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, the secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. In her remarks, she announced there will be a partnership between the proposed college of osteopathic medicine and Torrance State Hospital outside of Blairsville to send students and residents there to further their studies.
The conference will run for the rest of the day, with several breakout sessions and a presentation of the Inaugural Rural Health Impact Awards.
