As strong storms rolled through the area Wednesday afternoon and evening, first responders and electric companies were working to make sure people were safe and that power was restored if it was knocked out.
As of now, Penelec reports only four outages in Indiana County and they are all in North Mahoning Township. Crews are working to restore power to that area. No outages are currently being reported by REA Energy.
Between 6:34 and 10:41 last night, Indiana County first responders were dispatched seven times for trees or power lines down. Those areas included White, Rayne, Montgomery and Washington Townships. In one incident, crews were called out for a fallen tree that fell onto a vehicle. That was at 6:34 PM on Indian Springs Road in White Township. While details are not yet available, Indiana County 911 deemed the call a “physical rescue”.
One of the other calls that were reported were at 6:52 PM along Route 119 south in Burrell Township as the Black Lick fire department was called out after a transformer was hit by lightning.
