Pennsylvania American Water is now asking all customers to conserve. The company is asking residents and businesses to reduce their nonessential water usage by 10-15%. The request comes as the state deals with a worsening drought. Pennsylvania American Water says the current water supply can meet the needs of customers, but it is looking to prevent the need for more severe conservation measures in the future.
This follows a voluntary conservation request from the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority and a mandatory order from the Blairsville Municipal Authority.
Indiana County is still under a drought watch along with 32 other counties in Pennsylvania. Two other counties, Berks and Schuylkill counties are under drought warnings.
