More brush fires were reported in Indiana County on Tuesday, including one that burned half an acre in Armstrong Township.
Indiana, Elderton and Creekside fire departments were dispatched at 8:26 PM for the fire along Parkwood Road. Bob Henry with the Indiana Fire Association said that crews were able to put it out very quickly, but they have also brought in DCNR officials to investigate the cause of the fire.
Five other brush fires were reported by Indiana County 911 Tuesday afternoon and evening. At 4:33 PM, crews from Plumville and Creekside fire departments were called to a brush fire on Swank Lane in another county.
Marion Center and Creekside firefighters were dispatched at 5:51to Arch Street in Creekside Borough. Creekside fire officials said that the cause was a homeowner burning garbage in a pit that got out of control. A minute later, Marion Center firefighters would be called to Richmond Road in Marion Center Borough for another brush fire.
At 7:48 PM, Cherryhill Township and Indiana firefighters were called to Chestnut Ridge Road, while Clymer Firefighters were called to assist about 20 minutes later. And At 8:25 PM, Elderton and Creekside fire crews were called to Five Points Road in Armstrong Township. That fire is currently under investigation.
The total number of brush fires in Indiana County this year is now up to 76.
