A Johnstown man pleaded guilty in Federal Court on Monday to charges related to a drug investigation in Cambria and Indiana Counties.
U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan said yesterday that 68-year-old Rodney Smith entered the plea in front of US District Judge Kim R. Gibson at the federal district court in Johnstown. Between January and June of 2021, Smith conspired with others to distribute heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine in both Indiana and Cambria Counties. Along with federal and state agencies, Indiana Borough Police and the county DA’s office both assisted in the investigation. Smith was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of drugs that he would later distribute to others.
He faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million or both depending on the seriousness of the offense and any prior criminal history.
