Sentencing hearings are on the schedule today for Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas, including one for a Punxsutawney-area man who was convicted of trespassing in December of last year.
State police from the Punxsy barracks charged 26-year-old Navada Cole Shaffer with two counts of trespass, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering or prowling, stalking and disorderly conduct for an incident on December 5th of last year. He pleaded guilty to all but one count of drug paraphernalia possession, which was withdrawn by prosecutors. Shaffer went into an occupied structure and was seen inside a restroom by one of the victims.
Also due for a sentencing hearing today is 48-year-old William Jefferson. He pleaded guilty to four counts of endangering the welfare of children for an incident on February 25th, 2023. Indiana Borough Police said that the day before, officers were called to perform a welfare check at a home in the 300 block of North 10th Street and found no one was taking care of the four children there. Further details on the case were not released.
