While Indiana County did see some rain yesterday morning, some nearby communities in Westmoreland County saw tornadoes come through the area.
The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in the Ligonier area around 3:30 yesterday and went through both Derry and Ligonier Townships. Officials say that the storm generated gusts of up to 100 miles an hour. The wind knocked down trees and power lines, and blocked access to at least three roads in Ligonier Township.
Crews were assessing damage to homes on Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
