Richard Blair “Dick” Karlinsey went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2024 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born July 25, 1950 in Spangler, PA to Harry B. and Faith Karlinsey, Sr.
Dick was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and a proud member of the United States Army.
He also worked for McCreary Tire & Rubber, Barnes & Tucker Coal Company, R&P Coal Company and most recently Karlinsey Trucking. Dick was a member of the Indiana Ben Franklin Masonic Lodge #313 and the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona. Dick loved traveling the country in his Peterbilt.
After his retirement his favorite thing to do was call his Gromley family to ask if they wanted to take a ride with no particular place to go. He especially enjoyed visiting the Pennsylvania elk herd in Benezette.
Many treasured memories were made sitting by the campfire at his daughter Lora’s and the son he never had, Craig’s home. He enjoyed getting the daily update from his daughter Amy on how your “report” went today, The Bachelor, all things Kardashian, and most recently Taylor & Travis. He was a Girl Dad before being a Girl Dad was a thing.
He is survived by his beloved daughters: Loralee “Loree” Foster and her husband Craig and Amy Karlinsey; very special friend Betty Buterbaugh; brother Harry Karlinsey, Jr. and wife Ruby; sisters-in-law Margaret “Peg” Karlinsey and Rachel Karlinsey.
Jay & Mildred Gromley and their family were his second family and held a special place in his heart. He had a lifelong friendship with their daughter, Carolyn Good-Lydic.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Herbert Karlinsey and Harold Scott “Pete” Karlinsey and aunt Margaret “Maggie” Karlinsey.
Friends and family will be received at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 3:45 p.m. during the afternoon viewing.
