The heavy rains over the last 24 hours have brought creeks in our area up to high levels and over the banks, and in Clymer, firefighters are helping to make sure citizens are safe.
John Gromley with Clymer Fire Department said that a voluntary evacuation was done in the areas affected by the flooding on Sherman and Adams Streets. He said about fifty people did evacuate while others stayed behind.
Gromley said those people may be able to return home this afternoon, but it will depend on whether more rain falls today.
Route 403 between Franklin and Adams Streets in Clymer Borough are currently closed by PennDOT, while the fire department announced that the same road between Sherman and Wilson is closed due to flooding concerns.
PennDOT also announced that Route 56 between Charles Road in East Wheatfield Township to the county line, and Wandin Road/Pine Flats Road closed between Hill Road and Route 580 in Green Township.
