Indiana Borough Council heard a presentation on an ongoing replanting project during their meeting Tuesday night.
Representatives from Pashek+MTR presented a multi-year plan that features the installation and management of various shrubs along Vinegar Hill. Planting would begin in the Spring of 2025 and end in 2027.
Borough Manager Nichole Sipos said she liked the plan as it works well with the project’s phasing and initial costs.
Keeley McDonald with Pashek+MTR said they will take this year to continue preparing Vinegar Hill for the planting phase.
That part of the project will get underway within the next two months.
In other business, Police Chief Justin Schawl announced that countywide radio upgrade grant funds will be finalized and dispersed within the next 60 days. This will continue the ongoing effort to connect Indiana, Blairsville, Homer City, Saltsburg, Clymer, and Cherry Tree borough police departments to one radio frequency in order to bolster communication for assistance.
