Crews from the Indiana, Homer City, Creekside, Cherryhill Township and Coral Graceton fire departments were called out to the 300 block of Maple Street in White Township at 11:57 last night for the reported structure fire. Indiana Fire First Assistant Chief Ron Moreau said the fire was limited to three units, and its progress was limited thanks to fire walls in the building. The fire started in a unit on the first floor of the building and spread from there. Those displaced are being assisted by the Red Cross, and while three units were gutted, it was safe enough for the remaining tenants to return to their apartments.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but State Police fire marshals were called in to investigate.
