Friday turned into a busy day for first responders as they dealt with different incidents throughout the day.
At 2:12 PM, crews from the Marion Center and Commodore Fire Departments were called out to set up a landing zone on Deckers Point Road in Grant Township to assist Citizens’ Ambulance. About 30 minutes later, Marion Center fire department was called out again, this time with Plumville Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS and Dayton QRS to a three-vehicle collision reported on Route 210 in South Mahoning Township. Marion Center fire officials say that entrapment was initially reported.
The first of two reported brush fires was at 2:46 PM on Richmond Road in East Mahoning Township. Marion Center, Commodore and Clymer fire crews were dispatched for that call, with Creekside fire department called in for standby detail later on. Fire officials say that a corn field was on fire, but no other information was released on the fire. The other reported brush fire was in southern Indiana County, at 2:53 PM along Route 22 East in Burrell Township at Pennview Road, but no fire was found when crews arrived. As there was only one actual brush fire, that brings the total count for 2024 to five brush fires in the county.
A vehicle fire was reported at 11:06 last night in Bolivar. Clyde Fire Department was called in to assist.
