On Thursday, the Indiana County Commissioners held a special presentation in the lobby of the Indiana County Courthouse to commemorate Black History Month.
Commissioners Sherene Hess and Mike Keith issued a proclamation declaring February as Black History Month in Indiana County, and it was accepted by Dr. Carolyn Princes of the Indiana County NAACP.
This year’s theme is “African Americans and the Arts,” and Hess said understanding that concept is crucial for our nation’s development.
During her comments, Princes said this year’s proclamation was different than ones in previous years.
