Officials with Comcast-owned internet provider Xfinity are warning customers of a security breach that exposed nearly 36 million people.
Comcast said in a filing to the Maine Attorney General’s office that the breach occurred between October 16-19 of this year, but it wasn’t discovered until December 6. In a letter to their customers, they said one of their software providers, Citrix, discovered an intrusion that compromised certain personal data, such as usernames, passwords, and answers to security questions.
Customers are asked to reset their usernames and passwords, and they are encouraged to opt in to two-factor authentication to secure their accounts. You can view Comcast’s full letter below.
