State police have apprehended a suspect in the robbery of an S&T Bank branch in Homer City earlier this week.
Troopers say 28-year-old Dylan Robert Clark Rider is charged with felony robbery, theft by unlawful taking, attempted theft, and receiving stolen property along with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, resisting arrest, fleeing or eluding police and a summary vehicle code violation. On December 13th police believe that he walked into the bank on North Main Street and presented the teller with a note and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Rider was identified later on. Police said initially that someone else was in the car with Rider, but it was determined he was acting alone.
The following day, his car was spotted by police in Wilkinsburg, and pulled over for a traffic stop. Rider got out of the car, then got back in and sped off. State police then found the car as it was headed East on Route 22. During the pursuit, he went into the opposite lane of traffic and hit another patrol car before ditching the car and fleeing on foot. He was picked up in the area of Route 119 and Snyder Lane as he was trying to get in a state police cruiser through the driver’s door.
Police found money from the robbery in his wallet, and a search of his car turned up the clothes from the robbery, a sawed-off rifle, a set of replacement hubcaps, a map from his home to the bank and a floor plan of the bank.
Rider was arraigned in front of District Judge Christopher Welch and he was placed in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
