United Valley head coach Kevin Marabito announced he is retiring following 40 years in football. Marabito took over the United program in 2015, and successfully transitioned Blacklick Valley and United into a co-op agreement that was highlighted by a 9-2 record on their way to the conference title this season.
Marabito was a part of District 6 championship teams at three different schools. He was a head coach at Johnstown for 3 seasons going 23-11 winning the District 6 3-A title in his final season in 2009. He revived the Ferndale program from 1991-1999, going 47-38 and claiming the District 6 1A title in 1995. He has been with United and United Valley from 2015 through this past season compiling an overall record of 37-56.
Marabito discussed why this was the right time to step away.
Marabito reflected on the highlights of his career, which include coaching with his former coach Bert Toy, who he played for at Laurel Valley.
Marabito detailed some of the things he will miss.
In 23 seasons as a head coach, he compiled a record of 111-119.
Marabito played his high school football at Laurel Valley under Coach Toy, winning an Appalachian Conference Championship in 1973.
