Patricia “Patty” A. Shank, 87, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Rose Haven.
A daughter of Reginald T. and Viola B. (Shaffer) Shank, she was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Indiana.
Patty was a 1953 graduate of Laura Lamar High School. She was a member of the East Pike Church of Christ and was a teller at PNC Bank for 42 years. Patty loved bowling; she was well known for her back up ball. She and her bowling teammates bowled in many National WIBC tournaments, always making the trips into short vacations. Patty also played in a golf league at the VFW, played softball and was an avid Steeler fan. She enjoyed going to sporting events for her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She loved cheering them on in their sports. Patty loved it anytime the family got together, especially when the menu included hot dogs, corn on the cob and watermelon. She also enjoyed decorating cut-out Christmas cookies with anyone in the family that was willing to help. Patty loved watching television. Her favorite actors were John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, and her favorite shows were The Andy Griffith Show, Columbo and Matlock.
She is survived by four siblings: Denny Shank and wife Dru, of Katy, TX; William Shank and wife Patty, of York; Donna Shank, of Indiana; and Jeff Shank and wife Becky, of Clarksburg; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, June Shank.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, with Gordon Wells, Minister of Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rose Haven for their dedication and loving care while Patty was a resident.
