The high school football regular season comes to an end tonight with four games on our Renda Media stations, and two on Renda Digital TV.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, 2-7 Homer-Center closes out its season with a game against 1-8 Conemaugh Valley. Wildcats coach Greg Page says Conemaugh Valley’s Devon Chontas is a tough test operating out of the double-wing.
On 92.5 FM U92, 4-5 Penns Manor travels to 7-2 Purchase Line in a game with a lot on the line, especially for the Comets. Purchase Line is playing to protect its place in the District 6 Class A playoffs. They currently sit in the second position. Penns Manor is currently seventh, with McCort/Carroll right behind them for the eighth and final playoff spot and Claysburg-Kimmell and Marion Center still in contention to jump into the playoff field. Red Dragons coach Matt Falisec says it will be a tough test against the Comets.
Comets coach Bill Packer says the Penns Manor/Purchase Line rivalry will add extra spice to the game.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM, it’s 7-2 River Valley, fresh off its big win over United Valley, taking on a 3-6 Portage team that suffered a disappointing loss at Penns Manor last week. River Valley is currently fifth in the Double-A rankings and coach Jess Houser would love to get to the fourth spot and get a home playoff game.
Houser says Portage is no pushover.
Mustangs coach Marty Slanoc says the play at the line of scrimmage will go a long way to determining who wins the game.
Slanoc says the team that runs the ball best will win.
The other Heritage Conference games include 8-1 United Valley at winless Conemaugh Township; 4-5 West Shamokin at 3-6 Marion Center; and the Coal Bowl, where 8-1 Northern Cambria visits 7-2 Cambria Heights, with both teams solidly in the top four in Class A and the Highlanders looking to jump over Juniata Valley for third place and the Colts still holding the top spot in the rankings.
On WDAD and Renda Digital TV, 2-7 Indiana travels to play 3-6 Plum in a non-conference season finale for the Indians. Indiana coach Brad Wright is focused on the game tonight, but is already thinking about next season, and hoping to recruit more players. He says football has a lot to offer for athletes who play other sports.
All of the action begins with the Indiana Total Therapy pregame at 6:30 on our Renda Media stations, except for Homer-Center/Conemaugh Valley, which airs at 6:15.
