The four candidates on the ballot for the Indiana County Commissioners met at the Renda Media Studios in Indiana for a debate this morning.
Topics during the debate ranged from the closure of the Homer City Generation Station to the county’s emergency preparedness. One topic that was addressed was Air Liquide and the environmental violations against it. The question posed to the candidates was if the county had investigated the company adequately and what measures have been taken to guard against any irreversible damage.
While Sherene Hess did not know of the fines, she believed that the business is being watched closely.
Mike Keith said that the office of planning and development has done its due diligence in vetting the company.
Aaron Lehman said that he felt the problem was not using local labor in the construction of the plant.
Robin Gorman said they met with Air Liquide early and often, and that having the open forum earlier this year opened the lines of communication on the project.
