The American Red Cross is looking for more blood donors as supplies are at alarmingly low levels.
The Red Cross’ national blood supply has fallen to critically low levels since early August, and that could impact patients who need blood transfusions like those with cancer or sickle-cell disease. Regional Communications Director of the Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania Nicole Roschella said that the main reason for the drop in blood supply levels is that the number of those giving blood over the past few months has gone down.
She said that hosting a blood drive is another great way to help battle the blood shortage.
The next blood drive in Indiana will be at IUP on Thursday from Noon to 6 at 599 Pratt Drive, followed by one the next day at S&T Bank Arena from 10 AM to 3 PM. To find out more, log on to www.redcrossblood.org.
