The second half of the high school football season kicks off tonight with undefeated United Valley on top in the Heritage Conference, closely pursued by River Valley, Purchase Line, and Northern Cambria, all at 4-1. In the WPIAL Greater Allegheny Conference, Indiana has some ground to make up, standing 2-3 overall but 0-2 in the conference with four conference games still to play.
On 92.5 FM U92, 5-0 United Valley visits 3-2 Penns Manor on a night dedicated to little Zander Marshall, a 4-year-old boy who has SURF1-related Leigh Syndrome, a mitochondrial disorder affecting the central nervous system. Both schools have joined a fundraising effort for the Cure Mito Foundation, and there will be a basket raffle beforehand. If you would like to donate to help find a cure, visit CureMito.org/Surf1.
