Members of the Army Reserve and their families gathered today at the KCAC for a farewell ceremony before the soldiers leave for an overseas operation.
The KCAC hosted farewell exercises for the 420th Clearance Company based in Indiana earlier today. The ceremonies will include speeches from many people, and a chance for families and soldiers to spend time together, the company will leave for a post in Texas before heading overseas to take part in Operation Sentinel. The company will be overseas for nine months.
Rodney Ruddock, who is a retired Major General in the U.S. Army, was invited to take part in the ceremony and he said that it was going to be an emotional ceremony.
Once overseas, the company will take part in the operation to promote maritime stability, ensure safe passage and deescalate tensions in international waters throughout the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, The Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Oman.
The company leaves for Texas on Wednesday at 7:30 AM. Ruddock is asking Indiana Borough citizens to line Philadelphia street to show support for the soldiers as they leave Indiana.
