The Pirates entertained some special guests at PNC Park yesterday. Roberto Clemente III met his baseball idol, Andrew McCutchen. It was an early fifth birthday present for “Ro”, as he’s called by his family, and his younger brother, Leo.
Former Pirates top overall draft pick Henry Davis made his Triple-A debut last night for Indianapolis and went 0-for-2 in a 4-2 loss to Omaha. Davis played catcher and had a sacrifice bunt and a walk. Endy Rodriguez played first base and was 0-for-4.
ALTOONA CURVE
The Altoona Curve extended their winning streak to six games with a two-run 9th inning to beat Richmond, 6-4. Dylan Shockley’s single drove in the winning run and Liover Peguero followed with an RBI double. Matt Gorski had a double and a triple and drove in two. Matt Fraizer, Andres Alvarez, and Drew Maggi each had two hits. Travis McGregor threw three perfect innings in relief of Kyle Nicolas and Tyler Samaniego got the win with a scoreless eighth. Oliver Garcia got the save with a perfect ninth.
