An Indiana woman charged in connection with a drug overdose death last October waived her preliminary hearing on Wednesday and will now head to trial.
Court documents say 41-year-old Heidi Millar was due to appear before Magisterial Judge Guy Haberl for charges of drug delivery resulting in death and delivery of a controlled substance. On October 18th of last year, Indiana Borough Police officers were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Oak Street for a reported drug overdose and found the victim, identified only as a 26-year-old woman, in cardiac arrest. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through an investigation, detectives discovered Millar had sold fentanyl and crack cocaine to the victim prior to their death.
No word on a trial date yet.
Meanwhile, the preliminary hearing for 38-year-old John Richard Bence, who is currently an inmate at Indiana County Jail, was continued to next Thursday. Bence faces a felony charge of contraband and a misdemeanor charge of possession for a controlled substance after officers found four stamp bags containing fentanyl between his toes during a search on April 23rd.
