On Wednesday morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved the new Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, also called the SALDO
Over the last six years, the county’s office of Planning and Development has been working on creating the new plan to replace the county’s Subdivision Ordinance that was last amended in 1991. Deputy Director Josh Krug talked about how important it was to reach the end of this project.
The ordinance does not deal with single family homes or accessory structures to farms. The new ordinance will go into effect in 120 days. Land development projects that have applied for permits prior to the activation date will not be required to comply with the new ordinance.
In other business, the commissioners also declared the month of April as Fair Housing Month and approved a resolution that publicly acknowledges how the county will promote, educate and aid in the enforcement of that act under Title VIII of the civil rights act of 1968. In connection with that, Christina Coleman was designated as the fair housing officer.
