The Indiana Area Collaborative Team, or I-ACT, held a meeting on Monday as part of preparation for the upcoming “IUPatty’s” unsanctioned celebratory event.
Once again, law enforcement on the local and state level will have an increased presence in the community from Thursday to Sunday, and the Indiana Community will have several other events going on through the weekend ranging from performances at campus venues to the Armstrong-Indiana Builders Association Home Show.
Co-Chair and County Commissioner Robin Gorman said that since then, the I-ACT committee has been successful in curbing the negative behavior, and in sending a positive message out to the community and to those who come to visit.
The group formed after large gatherings in 2014 resulted into participants fighting and blocking traffic in the street. Since the group’s formation, the unruly activity has decreased, with its lowest levels in the early 2020s due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
