First responders have been busy over the last 24 hours as they were dispatched for multiple calls.
The activity started with a reported structure fire on Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough at 3:34 PM. Indiana Fire Association, Citizens Ambulance, Borough Police and the county HAZMAT team were dispatched at that time. The call was initially for Luxenberg’s Jewelers, but no fire was found there. A small fire was found next door in a dryer at the dry cleaners. The fire was put out before first responders arrived, but the smoke triggered the alarm next door. Fire crews remained on scene to ventilate the smoke.
In their second call of the day, Indiana fire association members would be joined by Creekside Fire Department for a reported flue fire on Fulton Run Road in White Township at 7:43 PM.
Indiana fire crews were also called out at 12:33 this morning for a vehicle accident on Shelly Drive in White Township. They were joined by State Police and Citizens Ambulance at the time, and later assisted by Homer City firefighters. A vehicle took out a utility pole near the storage units near Mansfield Avenue. Power was briefly knocked out due to the crash. The driver was briefly trapped in the car as the live wires were on the car.
A crash was also reported on Fire Tower Road in Banks Township at 4:15 PM. The Glen Campbell Fire Department was also on the scene.
At 8:03 PM, Altman, Black Lick and Blairsville fire department were called out with Citizens Ambulance for an unknown-type fire. When officials arrived on the scene, they were advised that it was a controlled burn and all units were cancelled. Black Lick and Blairsville fire crews were also called out for an automatic fire alarm activation. Black Lick fire crews said that when the building was inspected, firefighters found an overheated pump in the basement.
