Chalk up another transfer for Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi as he landed his third Tuesday afternoon. A name that’s familiar to WPIAL fans.
In a tweet, former LSU defensive back Derrick Davis, Jr., announced his commitment to play for Pitt, his hometown school. Davis is 6’0″, 209 pounds and graduated from Gateway High School in 2020 as a four-star recruit. He earned TribLive HSSN Player of the Year honors in 2019 after helping the Gators to a WPIAL 5A title.
At LSU, Davis totaled five tackles in four games between 2021 and 2022. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Davis joins QB Phil Jurkovic and safety Donovon McMillan on the list of former WPIAL stars to transfer to Pitt.
