UPDATE: Grove Chapel Hill (Route 119 North) in Rayne Township remained closed as of 7:30 this morning, almost twelve hours after the reported crash there. Power in the surrounding area appeared to be restored. Authorities had not yet issued a report.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:
A portion of Route 119 North remained closed into the predawn hours after an accident Saturday evening in Rayne Township, and power remained out for the area for hours. Traffic was detoured off Grove Chapel Hill from Chambersville Road around the accident scene to the top of the hill at Kimmel Road. It was reported as a motor vehicle collision with entrapment at 7:40 PM and a landing zone was set up for a medical helicopter about a half hour later. Marion Center and Creekside firefighters responded to the scene. Police have not released a report.
The accident was one of four motor vehicle crashes reported on Saturday. There was one at 3:27 AM on Route 119 South in White Township; at 9:05 AM on Philadelphia Street in White Township; and at 6:17 PM on Route 422 East in Pine Township.
Firefighters also battled two brush fires in Indiana County on Saturday. Indiana was dispatched for a fire along Route 422 West in White Township at 2:20 PM and Bolivar was summoned at 6:19 PM for a brush fire along Robinson Street in West Wheatfield Township.
