The Indiana County Commissioners got some good news during the county Covid-19 update today during their meeting.
County Emergency Management Director Tom Stutzman said that the vaccination rates have increased dramatically in recent weeks.
He added that the previous increases were none to minimal, and that he hoped the increase was connected with a project from the Indiana County Human Services Department with some grant funds to get vaccination rates in Indiana County increased. Meanwhile, the CDC Covid-19 community level in Indiana county is now in the “low” status.
In other business, the commissioners approved accepting two grants, one of around $224,000 and one over $1.5 million for the second phase of the airport taxiway construction project to rehab pavement, and improvements to lighting, drainage and markings. The airport along with the Department of Planning and Development was also given permission to file a Multimodal Transportation Fund grant application with PennDOT for up to $3 million for costs related to the construction of an approximate 12,000 square foot corporate hangar.
