Monday is the last day to register to vote in the November 8th election. There are three ways to register: In person at the county elections office, by mail, or by visiting the state’s online voter registration website. The last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot is Tuesday, November 1st by 5 PM. Completed ballots must be returned on election day by 8 PM.
Representative Jim Struzzi says Governor Tom Wolf’s administration is ignoring a U.S. Supreme Court ruling regarding mail-in ballots. He says Acting Pennsylvania Secretary of State Leigh Chapman told county election officials they should count undated mail-in ballots, but state law clearly says dates must be included for a mail-in ballot to be valid. Struzzi says Chapman’s action is against the law and that counties have been told to mingle undated ballots in with properly dated ballots despite House Republican leadership strongly urging that they be segregated in anticipation of litigation. He says Wolf dismissed the request. National and state Republicans last week filed a lawsuit asking the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to review the matter.
