Discussion on upgrades to IRMC Park continued Tuesday night at the Indiana Borough Council work session.
Phase I of the upgrades wrapped up recently and it featured multiple landscaping upgrades to the park’s entrance, along with a mural painted on one of the nearby buildings. Community activist Kay Smith led the effort and members of the Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home assisted, while IRMC financially sponsored the project.

Council member Gerald Smith considered this a “win” for the borough and he discussed what he would like to see in the next phase.
No date was given for when Phase II would be completed, but Smith hopes it could be done by spring.
In other business, council members unanimously approved to accept a donation from the Indiana County Commissioners in the amount of $37,000 in American Rescue Plan funding that will go towards the on-going stormwater project and part of the Nixon Avenue project.
Borough manager Nichole Sipos said the donation will cover only 21 percent of the Nixon project, but she adds the borough has a plan to cover the rest.
Sipos also told council members that a lawsuit with B&L Properties was recently dropped as the property in question was sold and the new owners did not want to complete a previous project.
Finally, Mayor Bill Simmons formally announced that Trick-or-Treat in the borough will take place Monday, October 31, from 6-8 p.m.
