An unidentified child was injured in an accident Friday afternoon near the Indiana Junior High School.
Indiana Borough Police say at 2:51 PM, the child, identified as a 13-year-old girl, was riding in the eastbound lanes in the 400 block of Maple Street and did not stop at a stop sign. When the bike crossed over North 4th Street, a car driven by 77-year old Bonnie Bicego hit the bike’s rear tire. Police were assisted on scene by Indiana Fire Association and Citizens Ambulance.
In a letter on the Indiana School District’s website, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the girl was eventually taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. He confirmed that no district school buses were involved, and also asked the community to respect the privacy of the family at this time.
