Several sentencing hearings are scheduled for today in Indiana County Court. One of the hearings will be for an East Vandegrift man who pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangerment in connection with a drug-related traffic stop in February.
Court documents show that 28-year-old Jeffrey Sacik, Jr. was charged originally with driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, corruption of minors and window obstruction for an incident on February 4th of this year. Indiana Borough police officers pulled Sacik over and found the suspected cocaine and a 14-year-old passenger in the car.
Also due in court today is a 19-year-old Dixonville man who pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault connected with a fight at the Purchase Line High School. State Police had charged Christopher Dilts with two counts each of simple and aggravated assault, harassment and a single count of disorderly conduct for the incident on September 23rd of last year. Troopers say he punched a teacher in the main hallway. A second teacher responded, but fell to the floor and was also punched by Dilts. Dilts pleaded guilty to the simple assault charges on July 7th.
And 70-year-old Lewis Alabran of Smicksburg is also due for sentencing today. He pleaded guilty to a charge of statutory sexual assault of someone between the ages of 8-11 for an incident on this day last year.
