Today marks the beginning of the one-year countdown for the federal enforcement of REAL ID for commercial air travel and other federal purposes, and a few agencies – both from a state and federal level – remind citizens who want REAL ID-compliant documents of a few things.
PennDOT, along with the Travel Safety Administration (TSA), says that customers can obtain a REAL ID by presenting documents for verification and processing at any driver license center, but federal regulations require those wanting a REAL ID-compliant product that the following documents must be verified by PennDOT:
- Proof of Identity, like a birth certificate
- Proof of Social Security Number
- Two items with current, physical PA address, like a current PA driver’s license
- Proof of all Legal Name Changes, like an issued marriage certificate
Those interested can obtain a REAL ID product by ordering one online, by visiting a PennDOT driver license center, or by visiting one of 13 REAL ID Centers.
