A two vehicle accident with reported injuries caused a backup of traffic along one of Indiana County’s major highway this morning.
Indiana County 911 called out members of the Indiana Fire Association Rescue Squad along with Citizens Ambulance and State Police to Route 422 West near Poulos Road in Armstrong Township at 7:38 this morning for a reported T-bone style collision involving a Toyota Prius and a school van. State police confirmed the driver of the school van suffered mild to moderate injuries in the crash. One child was on board the school van at the time and that child suffered a minor injury as well.
Crews were on the scene this morning for about a half hour to clear the scene to get traffic flowing once again.
Indiana Area School District has issued a statement on the crash, saying that the van was theirs, and was transporting a student from St. Bernard’s. The district did talk with the child’s parents about the crash and what was going on.
The identities of those involved has not yet been released.
