State police have charged a Marion Center man with assault for an incident on New Year’s Day. Troopers were dispatched at 4:33 AM on Saturday to a disturbance at a residence along Route 286 east when 33-year-old Jeremy Lute was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend. During the incident, a 14-year-old Indiana girl tried to intervene. Lute then allegedly hit the 14-year-old, causing a minor injury. Police said Lute was intoxicated at the time. He later went back to the house, and ran off into the woods when he was confronted by troopers.
A Creekside man faces charges of public drunkenness for an incident late Monday morning. State police say that troopers were dispatched at 11:26 AM on January 3rd for a report of an intoxicated man sleeping in the lobby. Police determined the man, identified as 40-year-old Brandon Cook, was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to Indiana County Jail.
