The Tik Tok app has proven to be a rather annoying disruption to school officials this fall, and another troublesome trend is frustrating administrations and costing a lot of time and resources for police agencies.
This week, several area school districts have had to have police respond to perceived threats, all of which have been unfounded. A new Tik Tok post refers to a threat to school safety “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” today, December 17th.
Indiana Area Superintendent Michael Vuckovich says that while the threat is not specific to his district, he encourages the community to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the Safe2Say Something system. Vuckovich says the district has contacted Indiana Borough Police and state police, and there may be an increased police presence in the district’s buildings today as a precaution.
To report anything suspicious through Safe2Say, call 844-723-2729, or email info@safe2saypa.org. You may also report it online at www.safe2saypa.org. Of course, if there is an emergency, call 911.
Purchase Line, Penns Manor, Marion Center, and United have posted similar notifications today and River Valley posted earlier in the week. Some of those districts may also have extra police in their schools today.
