Plans have been made to honor a former Indiana mayor for his lengthy career in public service.
Indiana Borough has finalized plans for a ceremony to rededicate the Indiana Borough Building in honor of former Mayor George Hood. Hood stepped down in January of this year as he moved out of Indiana Borough to live with his daughter in White Township after multiple health issues. Indiana Borough Council in January passed a motion to rename the Indiana Borough Building on 8th Street.
Hood was mayor of Indiana Borough for 23 years. During his tenure, he oversaw many events in in the borough, including the borough’s bicentennial in 2016 and the sendoff of troops in Indiana who were going to Afghanistan in 2020.
Ceremonies will be held on November 6th at 1:00 PM at the borough building.
Joseph Trimarchi was appointed Mayor of Indiana Borough in February of this year to fill the remainder of Hood’s term. He is running for a full four-year term against William Simmons in next Tuesday’s election.
