On Monday, the Center Township Supervisors announced that the people behind the proposed detox center that was proposed for the former Grapevine Restaurant in Coral have said they are no longer interested in the project.
St. Michael’s Sanctuary, LLC announced an interest in using the facility as a 28-bed on-hospital detox facility. At a town hall meeting on September 9th, the citizens of Coral overwhelmingly voiced their opposition to the center. Township supervisors chairman Dave Smyers said that the public backlash was one of the reasons why they decided to pull out. The other was that the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission was not interested in providing the permits. Smyers talked about the reason why.
In other business, the township supervisors reminded people about the food distribution on Saturday at the Homer City, Coral-Graceton and Aultman Fire halls and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lucernemines. While the September 30th pre-registration deadline has passed, people can still sign up in advance until the day of the food distribution on October 9th. To sign up, call ICCAP at 724-465-2657 or the Center Township office at 724-479-2688
Finally, township supervisors approved Trick or Treat times for the township. Trick or Treat will be held October 31st from 6-8 PM.
