The Steelers kick off the 2021 preseason shortly after 8 o’clock tonight in the Hall of Fame game against Dallas in Canton, Ohio. It’s coach Mike Tomlin’s first chance to see game action from his younger players, with a lot of the veterans just watching from the sidelines.
It’s also an opportunity for Tomlin to reflect on the roles played by some of this year’s Steelers inductees. Troy Polamalu, Donnie Shell, Alan Faneca, the late Bill Nunn and Tomlin’s predecessor, Bill Cowher, will all be inducted. Tomlin says he appreciates the time he has spent with Cowher.
Tomlin says the game will open the eyes of his young players to life in the NFL.
The coach says he is looking forward to learning more about his team tonight.
The Hall of Fame game tonight airs on WDAD, 100.3 FM and 1450 AM, starting at 6:00.
The Steelers yesterday placed rookie cornerback Demarkus Acy and tackle Anthony Coyle on the waived/injured list. Acy revealed on his Twitter account Tuesday that he had torn the ACL in his knee. Coyle signed with the Steelers last year and made it onto the active roster for three games.
