Sadness today in Indiana, as the body of a five-year-old boy was found in a swimming pool in White Township last night.
State police and Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. report that Lenny Hatinda was found deceased at about 11 o’clock last night, about a tenth of a mile away from his home. The non-verbal boy had last been seen walking barefoot, in his pajamas in the area of Country Meadows Lane at about 7:45 PM.
After a family member reported the child missing, an urgent search detail was undertaken involving state police, the Indiana Fire Association, Indiana County Emergency Management, and Citizens Ambulance, with the State Police Aviation Patrol Unit and the Special Emergency Response Team assisting.
Upon finding the boy in the pool, first responders immediately began resuscitation efforts. Hatinda was taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 this morning. The cause of death was fresh water drowning and the manner of death was ruled accidental.
