A man accused of raping a woman on IUP’s campus in 2017 is due in court today for his sentencing hearing.
22-year-old Donte Robinson-Vearnon faced multiple charges from an incident in October of 2017 where he allegedly raped an unconscious person. He was eventually arrested in June of 2019 at an apartment in East Pittsburgh.
After jury selection was completed on May 11th of this year, he entered a guilty plea to a second-degree felony charge of intimidation of a witness or victim. Two counts of aggravated indecent assault and single counts of raping an unconscious person and sexual assault were not prosecuted, while a charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse was disposed of at a lower court. At the time of the plea, Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said the plea agreement allowed a conviction on felony charges without the victim having to testify in court.
The hearing is set for 8:30 this morning in front of Senior Judge William Martin.
Also on the schedule for today is a sentencing hearing for Linda Kay Bingman who will be sentenced for a guilty plea to a charge of DUI for an incident on February 4th of 2020. Parole revocation hearings will also be held this morning for Bradley Armahizer, who faces hearings connected with five different cases. Charges filed against him include tampering with others property, harassment, theft and two counts of receiving stolen property.
