At a meeting Thursday night, the Penns Manor School Board took a first look at a policy concerning threat assessment.
The policy deals with a multidisciplinary team who directs, manages and documents the threat assessment process, and that team must be established before the start of the new school year, according to the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency. While this new part of the district policy is in it’s first reading, Superintendent Daren Johnston said that it will affect some other policies as well.
Those policies include trauma informed approach, weapons, terroristic threats, bullying and cyberbullying, dating violence, emergency preparedness and response and school security personnel. While the modifications for those polices were approved, the new threat assessment policy needs to go through a second reading. Final approval is expected next month.
In other business, the board approved bids from Petroleum Traders for diesel fuel and American Natural Supply for unleaded gasoline. The board also approved an agreement with C&L Installers to remove the old carpet in one classroom and install vinyl tile.
