The Indiana County Commissioners got some good news and some bad news concerning Covid-19 during their meeting earlier today.
The good news, according to Indiana County Emergency Services Director Tom Stutzman, Indiana County’s case per day average for the last seven day period was at 4.29 cases a day, which was significantly less than what he quoted two weeks ago in his prior report. He also reported some good news on the daily case count itself.
As of today, there have been 4,477 cases of Covid-19 reported in Indiana County.
The bad news was that Indiana County’s vaccination rate is still lagging behind neighboring counties by anywhere between four and 11 percent, and that Indiana County’s vaccination rate is one of the lowest in the state.
In other business, the Commissioners made a $10,000 allocation of local housing trust funds to the Veterans Parsonage in Indiana. The money will go towards their fundraiser to make the facility 100 percent ADA accessible for staff and residents who need the facility. Commissioners also issued proclamations making June Covid Vaccine Month in Indiana County, honoring the annual Juneteenth celebrations, and proclaimed June 7th to the 11th as Indiana County Ready week in honor of the Chamber of Commerce’s Indiana County Ready program.
