The Open Door drug and alcohol treatment center and the MARTI Institute at IUP are once again teaming up for the second-annual “Heart of a Champion” fundraiser.
The fundraising effort will go towards providing people with drug addiction treatment, along with supporting aggressive prevention efforts. This year, the two organizations are focused on making sure that prevention and treatment efforts are available every day of the year. This year, instead of having the celebratory dinner that was a success last year, Erik Lauber of IUP’s Marti Institute said that they will focus on collecting donations $100 at a time. The $100 will supply a day’s worth of prevention or treatment efforts for one individual. Those who donate can specify what day or the name of their own personal champion for their donation. They’ll receive a certificate honoring the donation, and an invitation to an event on March 27th, 2019 at the Indiana Theater, featuring recovery comedian Tim Grealish.
