The Indiana Area School District has announced how the end-of-the-school-year activities will go.
In a letter posted to the district’s website, District Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the district is aware of the upcoming suspension of Covid-19 mandates on May 31st. He said when those orders change, the district will modify its health and safety plan to bring it in line with those protocols.
Indiana High School prom will be held May 28th for seniors and their guests. The prom was limited to seniors and guests only to comply with event gathering limitations that are in place in Pennsylvania, and a health and safety plan has been put in place by prom organizers.
Graduation will be held in-person at the KCAC on June 4th. Students will be provided a set number of tickets for the event in order to comply with health and safety guidelines set forth by the CDC and the PA Department of Health for indoor capacity guidelines.
As far as summer league activities at the district’s facilities, the district will allow parents to attend to watch their children play. The district does ask that organizers for summer leagues submit a safety plan. If the plan is in line with the district’s health and safety plan, they will be allowed to use the district facilities.
One rule that will be in place concerns students who are in quarantine. If a student is placed in quarantine by the Department of Health, those protocols must be followed and the student would not be allowed to take part in any district activities while in quarantine.
