The accident calls started coming in late yesterday morning and have continued ever since, as Indiana County deals with its first winter storm of the year.
Firefighters from across the county were dispatched to accident scenes, and Citizens Ambulance and state and local police have been quite busy as well.
No police reports are yet available on the majority of the crashes.
Accidents and traffic control situations were reported on Route 286 in Center Township, Mulligan Hill and Climax Road in West Wheatfield Township, Route 56 and Route 403 in East Wheatfield Township, Route 85 in Washington Township, Route 422 in White Township, Route 553 in Cherryhill Township, and – this morning so far – West Burrell Street in Blairsville Borough and Richmond Road in East Mahoning Township.
Firefighters from Indiana were also dispatched for a tree down on power lines along Stormer Road in White Township. That happened at about 7:30 last night and the lines caught fire, causing a power outage. And Clymer firefighters were dispatched early this morning for utility lines down along Route 286 in Cherryhill Township.
