High winds made their way through Indiana County yesterday, causing power lines to go down in different areas of the county, with one incident touching off a brush fire.
The first “lines down” call was reported at 4:08 PM on North Ridge Road in Armstrong Township, with the Elderton Fire Department dispatched to the scene. At 4:24 PM, another lines down call went out on Route 580 in Cherry Tree Borough, with Cherry Tree fire department called out.
Glen Campbell Fire Department would be called out at 5:20 PM for an incident on Route 580 in Montgomery Township for a tree that fell across the roadway. Four minutes after that, Glen Campbell fire crews would be dispatched to Glenwood Avenue in Glen Campbell Borough for wires reported down.
At 5:51, Marion Center Firefighters would be dispatched for a brush fire on Dixonville Road in Grant Township. Crews say that power lines that went down in the area, and the live wires started the brush fire. No word yet on how much damage was done.
Creekside firefighters would be dispatched at 6:31 PM for wires down on Frech Street in Creekside Borough. Marion Center firefighters would be called out again at 7:15 PM for a similar call on Richmond Road as a tree fell on some power lines. The final downed power line call came at 8:21 PM as Indiana Fire Association Company 3 was dispatched for to 2nd Street in White Township.
Also, Plumville fire department would join Perry Township and Dayton fire departments at 9:03 PM for a structure fire on Route 954 in West Mahoning Township. No details are available on that call.
